About the project
A message of self-empowerment from the heart of DIY culture, following the new wave of protesters in the 90’s using Non Violent Direct Action to stop construction work on new roads in London, and at Solsbury Hill, where the first tree-top villages were built on the slopes of an iron age hill fort. Though these battles were lost, the war on roads was won.
Using archive footage shot over the summer of 1994 from roof-tops and tree-tops, I Am Alive reminds us that good planets are hard to find, and that we must all stand up and be counted in the eco-war.
